The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.
Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with autonomous vacuum (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
